The Golden Shield Project is China’s program to censor content from the Internet. Websites that threaten the government are blacklisted. This program is also colloquially known as the Great Firewall of China. This Internet censorship can be a problem for those who want to share files. The Great Firewall of China has blocked most of the popular file sharing services.

To overcome this problem, many Chinese users utilize tunneling VPN services. However, this may be costly and sometimes doesn’t work. If you want to share files with someone in China, consider SmartFile’s secure file management platform for file sharing. We aren’t blocked by the Great Firewall of China. You can safely send files to China without worrying if the recipient is able to access the files.

  3. I need a file sharing website that will allow all invited parties to view, edit the files/folder. Will this allow me to do that?

    1. We do not currently offer editing, but the parties can certainly preview on SmartFile, then download and edit locally. You can setup email alerts for when files are uploaded or downloaded, so at least you know when those edits are taking place and being uploaded back to SmartFile. Call or email us anytime if you have more questions!

  4. Hi There, I am doing some research to find a good solution for sharing files in China. We normally share artwork with our Chinese partners, the average file size is 600 MB per file, we share around 10 files per day. Is this something that smartfile can support?

    A few more questions:
What is the average download speed for users in China?
Do you have desktop software that would allow the users to copy, paste, and easily move files between folders?
Does smart file allow to share specific folders with specific people?
How long has Smart file been in business?

    Thanks for your help!
