As a major operator of data centers across Europe, TelecityGroup already had the infrastructure, but what they needed was a more efficient application for exchanging content among their twelve data centers and to external parties. At the time, the files that were most commonly shared resided across multiple network storage devices. TelecityGroup was challenged by the conundrum of choosing between: Replicating data between the servers; Relocating data to a single server and recreating all of the user permissions and access rights; Purchasing multiple file sharing applications to interface with each of the individual servers.
SmartFile solved the conundrum. TelecityGroup wouldn’t have to choose between either of those options. SmartFile’s FileHubTM feature permitted TelecityGroup to utilize their state of the art infrastructure while enabling SmartFile to act as the front-end application for sharing files. The FileHubTM feature, which creates Samba shares to virtually connect to existing network shares, facilitated the option to incorporate file directories from multiple network servers. In doing so, TelecityGroup would be able to leverage existing Active Directory file permissions for internal user, while SmartFile handled the permissions for external parties.
No replication. No relocation. No extra applications. Just file sharing the Smart way.
