How to Download FTP Files

If you’ve been avoiding investing in a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) system because you think it’s too complicated to understand then it’s time for you to know that there is nothing complicated about a file transfer protocol service.

Although different websites or hosts use a variety of methods for their FTP systems, the steps below will generally apply when you want to download FTP file.

Once you’ve signed up for an account with your chosen FTP or multimedia storage provider, you’ll be provided with a link and log-in credentials. If yours is a sub-account, a user account within a user account, then the account owner will email your log-in credentials.

Go to the log-in page of the File Transfer Protocol site and key in your log-in details. You will then be able to view the files that the account user has given you access to. Click on the file’s download link and that’s it. You’ll be able to download the file right away.

If you’re the account owner, you can determine who can download which files you’ve uploaded. You’re also allowed to create as many sub-accounts as you want.
